One word to describe our Coron trip… sulit (value for money)! Two words to describe our Coron trip… super sulit. Hehe. The food is great, service is superb and people are really nice.
We followed the itinerary provided by Coron Village Lodge. Among the cheaper accommodation options that we have, we chose Coron Village Lodge. The options are:
Coron Village Lodge
Darayonan Lodge
KokosNuss Garden Resort
Owen Ferrer’s DIY Coron
Below are the comparisons that I did between all the accommodation/tour options:

We took the Cebu Pacific flight going to Busuanga Airport. Vans were already waiting for us there to take us to Coron town proper. The travel from Busuanga Airport to Coron Village Lodge is around 30 to 45 minutes. Welcome drinks were served by the tour guide assigned to us, Rolan or Lan. “Sir, ako po ang magiging tour guide ninyo.” We were advised to take the early lunch before doing the first part of our itinerary which is Coron Island hopping. We knew that the food comes with the package but we were surprised with the humungous serving. We smiled. Haha. For lunch on the first day, we had Tinolang Manok, Fried Tuna, and Banana for dessert. We rested a little and then off we go to the islands.

First stop, Batch 91 beach. This is a white sand beach where you can snorkel, swim or just simply relax under the nipa huts. We decided not to go down on this beach because we’ve kinda been to a lot of beaches already and this one is no different. We decided that we will spend a lot of time in the lagoon and lake. It’s enough that we see the place. Besides, there were other guests swimming on the beach already. It’s not that we don’t have any space anymore, but just like what I’ve said, we’re not really that excited.

So we told our guide “OK na kuya, let’s go to the next.” and the boat took us to the Twin Lagoon. Along the way, we saw a lot of islets and rock formations, giving us a glimpse of what the Twin Lagoon would look like. We anchored, wore our life vests and jumped into the lagoon. We have to swim under rock formations to get inside the lagoon. We were in our life vests the whole time because there were no rocks or any type of land where we could stand, all we did was swim, float and snorkel. Lying over the lagoon looking at the skies was such a very relaxing and awesome feeling. But this came second to what we experienced next.

We rode the boat again and off we went to the Kayangan Lake. This is where you can take the famous “Coron photo” as you climb up the hill. After taking “the photo”, seeing the cave and going down to the lake, you’ll see the magnificent Kayangan lake. It will give you a Dawson’s-Creek-a-la-Tabing-Ilog feeling as you pose in the wooden dock. We spent longer time here as we snorkel, swim and did photo-shoot while on a raft. Water here was the best among all the swimming areas we visited.

At this time, we had so little time left and we still have two destinations to visit. We first went snorkelling in Siete Picados then we dipped into the very hot Makinit/Maquinit Hot Spring. Siete Picados is where we saw large “snorkel fishes”. The fishes there are relatively huge compared to the fishes of other snorkelling sites I’ve been to (in Coron and in some other places). This is the first real snorkelling that we did where we used a lot of bread to gather the fishes around. Before going home, we dipped into Makinit/Maquinit Hot Spring where we experienced the hottest hot spring so far (because of the very warm water and some foreigners in bikinis… hehe).

It was a little late when we went home, just in time for the Coron sunset.

That was just the first day and everything’s already awesome. And oh, our dinner was calamares and beef bulalo with a buko shake surprise as dessert.

Hi Kesh, would just like to ask regarding your Day 2 itinerary, tamang-tama lang ba ang 9am-5pm to cover Calomboyan, Coral Garden and WWII Sunken Ship or you have a lot of extra time pa? Thanks.

It actually depends on you. Calomboyan is a little far and you may actually want to stay there, siesta after lunch. We didn’t have extra time during Day 2 because we stayed in Calomboyan.
